Motorcycle Clothes - What Type of Clothing Should You Go For?

When it comes to buying the right motorcycle clothes to suit your own needs, there are many selections to go for. As well as different materials, there are also a variety of designs, styles and brands for biking clothes. You just need to make sure the right gear is chosen for your riding trip.

It is important to take into account any weather conditions that you may face along your journey. If it becomes cold, wet or warm, then an appropriate gear should have been chosen. For instance, in wet weather, waterproof clothing is needed to protect you against the rain. It is advisable to prepare all the clothes before the trip in order to be well prepared for any adverse weather conditions.

Here are some of the different types of clothing to consider. This article should be used as a rough guide to get you prepared in advance for your biking trip.

One of the essential pieces of clothing is the jacket. This is because a jacket will keep you warm and protect you in case of a fall. Leather jackets are the most popular choice due to their longevity and quality. Some have built-in body armor which gives the extra protection in the event of an accident.

Next is a pair of boots for keeping your feet warm when traveling in cooler weather. You should buy boots that are as high as possible since there are hot parts of the bike that may burn your ankles. Again most people opt for leather boots due to how trendy they appear, plus they will be a great match to the leather jacket.

So, when it comes to purchasing the right motorcycle clothes for your individual needs, always make sure you are prepared for the journey ahead. The right brand of biking clothes from reputable companies may cost a little higher, but it will be worth the money in the long run.

BMW HP2 Sport

BMW HP2 Sport BMW Announces Availability of the HP2 Sport in the U.S.A.
May 9, 2008 - The BMW HP2 Sport has arrived at U.S. BMW motorcycle retailers. The same high-performance sport bike that Richard Cooper and Brian Parriott rode to fifth and sixth place finishes in last month's Daytona 200 is now available in limited supplies for serious motorcycle enthusiasts. The high-performance (HP) two (2)-cylinder Boxer -- customized to meet the requirements of the ambitious sport rider -- has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $25,375 (excluding taxes, license, options, and handling charge).

The sportiest, most powerful and lightest Boxer ever manufactured, the HP2 Sport features numerous exclusive details, previously restricted to racing, that were never before seen in series production vehicles. Technology such as the self-supporting and aerodynamically optimized fairings made completely of carbon fiber, the quick shifter, a dashboard similar to that used in the MotoGP, the forged aluminum wheels and brakes with radially bolted calipers make the HP2 unmistakably athletic on both country roads or the racing circuit.

The most striking difference between the BMW HP2 Sport from the earlier endurance racing Boxer is the brand new cylinder heads: each of the double overhead camshafts (DOHC) uses a drag lever to actuate the valves that are larger than those on the BMW R 1200 S.

Further modifications, such as the flow-optimized intake and outlet, new forged pistons and adapted connecting rod, help the engine to achieve the necessary higher output compared to the basic engine. A new stainless steel exhaust system is placed below the engine for the first time, keeping the lower area of the motorcycle extremely slim for greater freedom of movement for a "hanging off" riding position.

Although designed for racing prowess, the BMW HP2 Sport does not forego the safety benefits of ABS. A sophisticated anti-blocking system, specially adapted to the HP2 Sport, is available as an option and is configured so that it can be deactivated for the racetrack.

Following the BMW Motorrad Motorsport design, the HP2 Sport features white lacquering on the windshield, rear, mudguard and side cover. The engine spoiler carries the two-tone "HP2" lettering; and the lattice frame and wheels are lacquered in the BMW Motorrad color of Motorsport Blue.

Zero S Electric Motorcycles

The bikes all feature direct-drive by chain, and are recharged from either 110 or 220-volt household supplies. The street machines have larger battery packs than the off-road equivalents, and weigh a little more. But none of them is heavy. Zero claims 277 pounds for the dualsport DS model and 161 pounds for the X trailbike.

Designed by aero-engineer and accomplished mountain-bike designer Neale Saiki, the Zeros feature aviation-grade lightweight aluminum frames weighing just 18 pounds in the roadgoing models, and 13 pounds in the off-road editions. Light wheels and suspension components, mostly sourced from Taiwan, help keep the overall mass down.

KTM 350 SXF

The 2011 350 SXF is an all new bike from the ground up. It has a new 350cc engine, a new frame, fuel-injection, and new-to-KTM linkage rear-suspension! The bike also has electric start for those lazy and physically challenged riders out there. It also seems to have a spot to put a kick starter, but there isn’t one currently on the bike. It is said to be released to the public this summer (2010). The price may be high, but it will most likely be worth it for the amount of work KTM has put into this bike.

Carberry Enfield Double Barrel V

The Royal Enfield as currently produced is a throwback to the mid 1950s, same style and engineering as the original with very little change until just this past year. The 500cc thumper is a very basic machine with British bloodlines and pretty much the performance you would expect from a mid 50s half liter single, which is to say, it could use a boost. Paul Carberry, down in Australia, had the idea of adding another cylinder and creating a V-Twin out of the basic engine, doubling displacement, giving it a satisfying sound and getting a nice performance increase at the same time.

XJ500T Jaybuilt Kawasaki 500

Builders of incredible homebuilt machines keep popping up and here's another example of a very impressive motorcycle designed for the purpose of handling the twisty roads of California's canyons. This bike consists of a Kawasaki 500cc 2 stroke triple engine, front and rear suspension from a ZX9 and everything else "Jaybuilt." Total weight is 310 pounds!

Pit Boss, the motorcycle concept for wiseguys

The guys at Custom Eyes Concepts have come up with a rather unique motorcycle concept, but not at all implausible. In fact, the Pit Boss, as it is called, actually looks a bit old and that is mainly due to design inspirations from the cars back in the 1950s. More precisely, show off cars such as the ones you would have seen being driven by the early Vegas "wiseguy" aka casino pit manager aka pit boss. And that’s where the name comes from.

CEC claims that “mixing those themes with modern design concepts results in a true embodiment of the emotion and stature evoked by the real pitboss, in this one-of-a-kind custom motorcycle design.” More pictures after the jump.

VertiGO Electric Motorcycle

It took a student working on his masters to create a concept for an electric motorcycle. We’re sure Maarten Timmer wondered with us on when electric motorcycles will appear, so he created this VertiGO Electric Motorcycle concept. Timmer’s idea features a tailsection and saddle cantilevered instead of the usual area where the gas tank is located. As a concept, not many details are yet known. Would you like to see Electric Motorcycles in the road soon?
